Casual Flow

First off, I would like to apologize to you all for a week with very few outfit posts. It's been pretty hectic at work, and by the time I actually get back home and can find someone (Kyle) to take pictures for me, it's dark out. Next week though, I will get back on that horse- PROMISE.

I did however manage to snap these before I went out to dinner after work. Though it's more casual than what I feel I have been wearing lately, it's nice to have a reminder of what my go-to, comfy outfit is.

Jean Paul Gaultier at the De Young

(Singing/ talking projections onto the mannequins)

I was lucky enough to visit the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit a few weekends back with Jessica and Ashley. I was even luckier that I was able to take pictures with my iPhone (hence the poor quality), to share with you all. Jean Paul Gaultier is an artist through and through, and standing so close to his best designs was surreal. If any of you are in the Bay Area, I highly recommend a visit!

Pajama Party

The pajama trend was something I liked to see others pull off, but on myself I felt a little weary about it. That is, until I saw this pair of Madewell pants on crazy sale. The cute blue geometric print caught my eye, and the silky, airy material made me think of how comfy I'd be in the Summer. I bought them, then stood in front of my mirror trying to figure out how to wear them. I quickly learned that to keep it from looking too... casual... you have to pair them with crisp tailored pieces; and to keep with Spring/Summer trends, I went to my white blazer, and neutral striped top. I can't wait to wear these pants all throughout the Summer. Up next I'm thinking a crisp with tee and a light trench with fun sandals.

Blazer: Tobi.com (sold-out but similar here) Striped Tee: Anthropologie. Trousers: Madewell ( love these) Shoes: Zara (similar) Belt: Anthropologie. Clutch: Jacobs by Marc Jacobs.

Trend- Spotting: Flapper Girl

If the image above doesn't get you excited for The Great Gatsby, then I don't know what will. I'm most excited about the wardrobe for the film, and I believe the anticipation, and hype leading up to the film, and the excitement, and inspiration after seeing it will lead to a 1920's flapper girl revival trend. So ladies, pull out your pearls, drop waist dresses, and fringed pieces and let the inner flapper girl out. Below are some gorgeous picks, though most are a little more than an arm and a leg. Especially that ETRO dress that I now dream about...

Foodies: Shanghai Dumpling King

Shanghai Dumpling King, located on 34th and Balboa, in the Outer Richmond District, has to be my favorite Chinese food restaurant ever. The unassuming look of the place does not hint at the fact that there are culinary treasures to be discovered here. Below are a few of my must have dishes, if you ever visit.

Sauteed String Beans: Salty-garlicky goodness.

Potsticker: Juicy and crispy all at once.

Shanghai Dumplings (soup dumplings): What they are most known for, these little guys are an explosion in your mouth, literally, and I crave them on a weekly basis.

Sugar egg puffs: The perfect, light and fluffy dessert to end the meal with.

Breezy Flow

It has been so windy as of late, that sometimes I feel as though I am being pushed as I walk. After a few days of anger about this, I decided to go to the old motto "If you can't beat em, join em" and take advantage of the breeze. What better than a flowy patterned midi skirt to wear when the wind blows? It makes walking down the street that much more pretty...

Denim Jacket: Forever 21. Tee- Target (Hanes). Skirt: Thrifted from Pretty Penny. Boots: Rachel Comey. Sunglasses: Ray Ban. Belt: Elizabeth and James. Necklace: One of a Kind from Foggy Notions. Bag: H&M.

BTW: I've started an online shop- shoppostgradchic.blogspot.com - I've just put an item up for sale. Check it out. And to check back, just click the link on the upper right hand side of my side bar!!!

Sequined Romper

San Francisco's Bay to Breakers was this past Sunday, and for the first time in the 6 years I've been here for it, the weather was warm and the sun was out. I didn't participate in the actual walk/partying but I did manage to soak up some sun in my fun new romper. The mint sequined shorts were so flashy, how could I resist? I paired it with a brown belt, to help add some structure, my favorite leather jacket, that's color is very Spring/Summer appropriate, and pink brogues for comfort, and to go with the pastel scheme.

Clashing

After seeing a few people mix leopard and floral prints together, and falling in love with the look, I wanted to try my hand at it. I've concluded that it definitely takes a lot of confidence, and guts to pull it off, but it's something I definitely would do again. Both prints are loud, but neutralizing it with a black jacket and nude heels helped pull the look together. What do you all think?

Trend-Spotting: Denim Vests

Since the temperatures are getting warmer, and Summer is fast approaching, I wanted to direct you all to the denim vest. It's the perfect easy to wear topper, much like the denim jacket, but cooler for the warmest of days. The vest adds just a touch of edge, and casual to any look. While anyone can think of a number of ways to throw this on for casual days out, I wanted to show you a more pulled together look using a denim vest. The look below can be worn for a date night, a girls night out, or even in a creative/casual office environment. Will you rock the denim vest?
